MEET THE TUTOR

-Graduated from Purdue University Calumet in 2005 with a BA in Elementary Education 

-First grade teacher at Wadsworth Elementary in Griffith (1 year)

-First grade teacher at Calumet Township schools (2 years)  

-First grade teacher at Discovery Charter School (9 years)

-Raising Readers Tutoring Owner/Tutor (5 years)

 

I have had the pleasure of working with elementary age children for the past 17 years. Although I enjoyed my time in the classroom, I came to the realization that teaching beginning readers had become my true passion. Not only were my students meeting/exceeding their yearly growth goals, but the sense of pride that they felt as a result was truly priceless.

Therefore, at the end of the 2018-2019 school year, I stepped down from my classroom position and officially started Raising Readers tutoring. I decided to specialize and work with the same age group that I knew and loved.  I am excited to provide this service to my community and look forward to meeting more amazing families on this journey.
